The irony in the camera's world is the cheaper the camera, the better the picture quality. This is true at least in my case. For years I've owned the following cameras in the order of their prices:
Canon A490 () (5 stars)
Canon Xsi (2) (5 stars)
Canon T2i (9) (4 stars)
Nikon D70 (B0032JRRXO,000) (4 stars)
Canon 50D (B0032JRRXO,110) (3 stars)

Unfortunately, the order of the picture quality is just the opposite---Canon A490 being the best (5-star) and Canon 50D being the worst.

You can never complain anything about A490. Too bad I can't post here stunningly beautiful pictures taken with my A490 that I recently purchased from Amazon.

Customer Reviews

Slow Slow Slow
I thought the quality was ok but it was so slow that I had to take it back. I would take a photo then wait wait wait while the screen says "busy". aaaaah!

Good camera for a low price
I've had this camera for two weeks, and I'm almost completely satisfied.
Good:
Easy to use for basic point-and-shoot pictures and zooming
Quick to turn on
Picture quality is good

Not so good:
Several of our outdoor zoomed pictures had a noticable streak/lens flare if the camera was pointed in the same general direction as the sun.
As with most digital cameras, the instructions are skimpy and the features are indicated by cryptic little icons.
The screen seems fragile, although nothing has damaged it yet. Maybe not a problem.

Overall, not perfect, but quite worth the price.

Well...
This camera takes GORGEOUS pictures, however, the battery life REALLY SUCKS!!! I bought the camera as a gift and my mom loves it, however, she says, "I have to carry about 50 batteries when I go out". That part of it is sad...however, the pictures come out amazing!!!

Canon Powershot A490
So far, we're happy with this camera. It does not come with a card, so be prepared for that.
It is small and has a handy little carrying case; more lightweight than our previous Canons.
And the pictures have been fine.

I bought this Wireless Bridge to connect my DirecTV HD-DVR to the internet so I could use the On Demand DirecTV offers (and other features). The On Demand allows you to search and then download to your DVR specific movies or programs that you want to watch now or save for later. I had an ethernet cable running from my wireless router to the DVR but I thought that was a waste to have everything wireless and have ugly cable running all over just for my DVR. I decided on the WET610N because I believe it is exactly like the unit DirecTV sells for . So since this is the one they recommend, and I didn't want any issues connecting or it being compatible, I went with this one.

Yesterday I installed a new wireless router to my network. I bought the D-Link DIR-855 Wireless Router D-Link DIR-855 Xtreme N Duo Dual Band Draft 802.11n Media Router (also purchased from Amazon) to replace my old D-link router. I say this because I believe having the newer router made the installation for the Wireless Bridge MUCH smoother than what others have experienced.

I opened the box and took everything out. Quickly read through the instructions so I knew what to expect. Then I moved my laptop to the room in my house where the D-Link Wireless Router lives. I put the CD in my laptop and followed step by step what it asked me to do. EVERY step was spelled out - probably a little too much, i.e. "plug the blue ethernet cable in to the back of the wireless router" with animated picture, click NEXT, "plug the other end of the blue ethernet cable into the back of the Ciso/Linksys Wireless Bridge" with animated picture, click NEXT, etc.

Basically my steps were: I entered a password to protect my new Wireless Bridge. It searched my system for my components. Then started connecting them. My new router has the "connect" button (looks like to arrows forming a circle) to speak to anything you would want to connect to the router. The CD told me to hit that button then hit connect. Once I held that button, then clicked connect on my laptop it was connected with no problem. So easy it was like connecting a wireless mouse to it's transmitter. I picked my network from the list of available networks that came up and I was wireless. I unplugged it from my router and connected it to my DVR and plugged the AC adapter into the wall. Once the lights stopped flashing it was booted up. I looked at the channels for the On Demand on my DVR and I was already connected. Didn't have to configure the DVR to see the Wireless Bridge at all. It just thought the old ethernet wire was plugged back in.

I never opened the web address page or homepage for the Wireless Bridge or for my router. Never entered my password for my network. Didn't even see anything asking for anything complex like if my network was PPPOE, if it was static or dynamic, if I was using DSL or cable, or if it was 2.4 Mhz or 5 Mhz. Nothing. It was so very easy. So much so I almost felt guilty after reading some of the horror stories in some of the reviews. It literally took minutes. Maybe 10 minutes including walking from room to room.

Customer Reviews

Easy setup, works great for Samsung Blu-Ray player
Found this while looking for an alternative to buying an proprietary Samsung wireless dongle for my "wireless enabled" Blue-Ray player. I followed the quick setup instructions and was connected to my Belkin wireless router with no problems or confusion. Have been using this device to stream Netflix movies and Pandora internet radio and am very happy with it. Buying a second one so I can move my desktop computer across my office without stringing CAT V cable around the walls. Highly recommend this item.

Quick and Easy
Purchased the item this week, just spent about 15 minutes setting it up to my husbands computer to make it wireless (not technical at all). This got rid of a lot of cables and cords under his desk. And it works perfectly. I'm glad my son-in-law convinced me to purchase this item. THANKS GABE!!! Now will return the modem back to my internet provider.

Works Like a Charm
I followed the setup CD and the unit configured as planned. I logged on to my router and permanently assigned it a number. I then plugged it into my Direct TV HD DVR and it works like a charm. It has only about 50% signal strength but operates between 36 to 54mbps connection. I only wish it had two Ethernet outs!

If it had a built-in switch, it'd be perfect
I wanted to change out my G-based bridge (also a Linksys) with an N-based solution. Slim pickings. That said, however, I very pleased with the performance of this Cicso-Linksys bridge.

This bridge, unlink my G-based model, has only a single ethernet port. The G-based model had a built-in 5-port switch. Initially, I used this N-based model with my Tivo. It's out in the living room and my Linksys E3000 router is in the master bedroom. I didn't have any problems at all getting the bridge set up. The coverage is fine. I could probably use it to attach to my neighbor's router, the coverage is that good. I stream a lot of Netflix movies and have only occasionally had momentary "delay" issues. I've noticed that it's usually because of the internet service I have rather than the device itself. Telltale signs are that my laptop seems to lag at the same time, etc.

Shortly after the intial configuration I set up (1 Tivo plugged directly into the bridge), I purchased a small 5-port Linksys switch. I plugged my Tivo into the switch, a 2nd Tivo into the swtich, and also my TV into the switch--and then plugged the switch into the bridge. It all works flawlessly.

Don't fear this bridge. If you have more than one device to hook up, just use a switch with it. You won't regret it.
These Maxell batteries are alkaline and are of a name brand quality. If you refer to Consumer Reports you will see that with a few exceptions, there is little variation in the life of alkaline batteries of equal sizes between brands. I would recommend these batteries to anyone who does not frequent a Sams Club or Costco: their store brands are a slightly better value.

Customer Reviews

Maxell, AA Batt pkg of 48
So far so good it appears that these batterys will give good service but I have only used two from the pack so far may return later after using more with a future comment. At this time they seem ok.. price was within range so I will expect good service from them.

Good batteries. Great Price!
I have been a Duracell Copper-Top battery user for most of my life (40+ years). I cannot tell that these Maxell batteries last any less time than Duracell's. I bought this pack of 48 batteries for about the price I pay online for a 20 or 24 pack of other brands. Great deal and will purchase again.

Why pay more?
I feel like I have been ripped off all my life. I will never buy batteries in single packs again. In my opinion these work just as well and as long as the Enigizers I used to buy. These are used in all my little girls toys and work just as well. At .63 I can't complain!!

Excellent Batteries
Long lasting and very affordable. Won't ever buy batteries in the store again. Bulk package is the only way. We use this for all of our kids toys as well as everything else and they last long! I also highly recommed them for photo use..I use them in my 580 EXII and my battery packs.

Went up to Boundary Waters Canoe Area in Minnesota last week with my camera gear in a pelican case.

The Canoe tipped over, but my camera gear stayed nice and dry in this case.

Awesome purchase. Saved my $$ gear.

:)

I'm a Pelican believer now. I bought several Pelican cases, including the 1600, to transport ham radio gear, AGM batteries, computers, and camera gear from South Carolina to Oregon in my pickup truck (3100 miles with the side trips).
I am in the phenomenally dusty desert environment of the eastern slope of the Cascades for the summer (staffing a USFS fire lookout tower in the Deschutes wilderness).
While not in use, I keep the electronic gear in the Pelicans .. safe from water and dust, and safe from the destructive "pack-rats" in my lookout tower's storage shed (they only go to the shed on my off days .. when the relief lookout is in the tower).
Pack-rats can get into almost anything .. but not a Pelican. Bet the people at Pelican never used that sales pitch!
